November 06 I don't do serious. In case you haven't noticed, I avoid heavy topics here on my blog.
Politics? You won't find anything here. It's not that I am not interested, because I am. In fact, I am very well informed and I am constantly reading and researching to find answers to my questions. I don't like to be ill-informed regarding anything so I probably spend way more time than necessary trying to fill my brain.
But I don't blog about it. I spend my day being serious. It's my job to be serious. I deal with abrasive personalities, mucho stress, deadlines, and one mini-crisis after another each and every day or so it seems. So when it comes time to blog, a little meaningless fluff is what I'm all about. I aim to entertain, and that's about it. If someone finds a little humor in what I write then my work is done. I can live with the fact I have not created world peace, racial harmony, or economic prosperity with my blog. But I did write a really amusing story about a mysterious stranger who kept taking big smelly dumps in the men's room of my former office a year or so ago. You see, I think it balances out.
I will say one thing, and one thing only. I think the right man won. I have always been a republican, but I voted for Obama and it felt very right. I am prouder to be an American right now than I have been in quite some time. But what the hell is up with California? You can elect a vowel-mangling former bodybuilder-actor from Austria as governor (a man who used to shave his entire body and prance around in posing trunks mind you) but you won't let gay people marry? No dig on Arnie here, because I love the guy, but come on. I guess too many mud slides and wildfires have just pissed everyone off.
Anyway, I'm back from my "vacation" , which consisted of watching a lot of movies and....well, pretty much watching a lot of movies. Here is a small sample of what I took in....
The Mummy's Hand. Seen it probably 5 times now. Great movie and the first one where we really get the version of the Mummy that we think of when we think of the classic Universal monster films. Most people forget this, but in the first one the Mummy is only in bandages for a few short scenes and he spends the rest of the film lurking about wearing a fez.
The Invisible Man. Awesome, awesome film. I'm talking about the original here, by the way. Claude Reigns was excellent. I've seen this probably 10 times or so.
House of Frankenstein. A decent entry from Universal, continuing the tie-in started with Frankenstein meets the Wolfman. The gypsy girl is very annoying though.
Alien vs Predator. I had not seen this yet. I liked it....I don't know why everyone hates is so much. There are some serious gaps in logic and even continuity between the two franchises that spawned this but overall it was entertaining.
Pumpkin Karver. Slightly better than average slasher flick. Good production values but the most annoying teens ever placed in such a film. You will want them to die painfully.
There are a bunch more thanks to AMC, TNT, FX and a few other channels who were in the Halloween spirit.
Speakin of Halloween, it was awesome! Beautiful weather, I wore shorts! I'll put some pictures of the kids in the new album soon.
